Tiki-Taka is a simple soccer game that's all about keeping the ball in possession and passing it around the rest of the team.

Tiki-taka is a term that may not make sense to everyone reading this. It's fun to say but what exactly does it mean? Soccer fans can explain all: it's a style of playing soccer, namely focusing on short passes and maintaining possession rather than taking any risks. The likes of Barcelona use it, as well as my personal favorite side, Swansea. It might not be the most exciting of things to watch but it's pretty useful for teams that want to be patient rather than play attacking or heavily defensive soccer.

Enough talk of soccer tactics, though. How does Tiki-Taka Football play? Pretty much exactly how Tiki-Taka soccer would. The player takes control of five team members as they pass the ball between them for as long as possible, while dodging opposing defenders. The control system is pretty easy to learn with taps and swipes affecting the type of passes. Speed is of the essence with defenders creeping ever nearer the longer you take to pass.

Points are gained, not just for lasting as long as possible, but also for collecting coins that appear between players. It's important to not be entirely focused on these coins however, as there's often the risk of interception or kicking the ball out of bounds. A selection of power ups such as bombs, ice balls and more appear to mix things up.

The Masters mode dispenses with such arcade style elements, however, and focuses on the purer need to just keep the ball moving.

It's a fun yet simple game mechanic. One that works well in short gaming sessions, although the fact that Tiki-Taka Football is pretty slow to load does affect this. Using the Unreal engine might ensure that the look of Tiki-Taka Football is quite distinctive but it does get mildly irritating waiting for the game to load.

Optimization problems aside and Tiki-Taka Football is quite enjoyable. It doesn't rival the likes of New Star Soccer or Fluid Soccer in the soccer playing stakes, mostly because it has no other focus than beating previous high scores. However, it is a fairly enjoyable arcade based distraction.
