Personal 'Urban Weather Station' For Your iPhone, iPad Or Android Device

This article is more than 10 years old.

Are you a data junkie? Do you like to know what's going on around you? Do you own an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or an Android device running version 2.3.4 or higher? If you answered "yes" to those questions then you may want to read on.

Netatmo, a company that describes itself as "dedicated to designing products that monitor the weather and environment" has unveiled an Urban Weather Station that allows users to monitor indoor and outdoor environmental elements including temperature, humidity, air pressure, CO2 levels and much more.

The connections between the devices and your smartphone/tablet are all wireless -- no need to trail cables or having to remember to connect the weather station to a PC.

The kit consists of an outdoor module that measures temperature, humidity, air pressure and air quality, and a separate indoor module that keeps track of the temperature, humidity, air quality, CO2 levels as well as "acoustic comfort" -- noise levels to you and me!

The idea is that the Urban Weather Station gives you all the environmental you need to know what's going on around you.

Data is collected every five minutes and Netatmo offers free cloud storage so that you can keep collecting without worrying about storage space.

This is a great tool for the data junkie, and the app allows that data to be displayed in the way that you prefer -- tables or charts.

A very cool and very stylish accompaniment for any iOS or Android device.

The kit costs $179 and is available from Netatmo.
