The World Ends with You - Solo Remix is available now on iOS devices.

Downloading the former Nintendo DS release costs £12.99/$17.99 for the iPhone 4 and above, and £13.99/$19.99 for the iPad 2 onwards.

The World Ends with You - Solo Remix contains a touchscreen-only battle system, as well as enhanced visuals, new remixes, songs and Twitter support.

The game also features multiplayer functionality, allowing users to exchange profiles and participate in games of Tin Pin Slammer.

An iOS World Ends with You port was expected after Square Enix launched a teaser site with a countdown clock.

Counting down to the weekend, the URL featured the word "subaseka," which is an abbreviation of the game's Japanese title Subarashiki Kono Sekai or It's a Wonderful World.

The title was prematurely confirmed via a soundtrack listing on the Square Enix eShop.

The World Ends with You released in 2008 for the Nintendo DS, and garnered a cult following for its unique touchscreen controls and urban Japanese atmosphere.

Neku, the protagonist from The World Ends with You, recently made a cameo appearance in the Nintendo 3DS title Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
