InstaFonts Review

Instagram is increasingly big business. A quick glance at all the apps associated with it will tell you that. While some apps such as InstaGenius are out to change the appearance of images before being uploaded to Instagram, InstaFonts sets out to add to what's already there.

As the name suggests, InstaFonts is solely focused on adding text to images before uploading them to Instagram. That's not to say that it can't be used to add text to images for any other purpose with options available for saving to the camera roll, but its core aim is to aid instagram users.

Adding text is exceptionally simple, although editing options are a limited. Users can type the text they want added first, followed by choosing a font and color or texture. Variety is plentiful with 38 fonts to choose from, 35 colors and 51 textures. Some are pretty garish and detract from imagery but there's more than enough choice for those of us after simplicity. Combining any of these settings adds to the array of options with opacity controls rounding off the choices.

It's quite simple to either move the image or move the text around the screen, with rotation options and scaling also available. The only real irritation comes from the limited editing tools. There's an Undo button which works as expected but there's seemingly no way of editing the text once it's placed. At least not without deleting the entire selection of text and starting again. It's a similar case when dealing with editing the effects placed on the text.

Such limitations are a shame as, otherwise, InstaFonts is a solid app for Instagram users looking for an extra way to engage with their followers or simply add some text based memories to their photographs. Sharing via Instagram is as straight-forward as expected and it's similarly easy to save a photo for later reference. InstaFonts won't revolutionize the service but it's a great peripheral tool for users.
