VMware Fusion 5 adds Mountain Lion, Windows 8 support


VMware announced Thursday VMware Fusion 5 for the Mac. The new release offers 70 new features, among them is support for Apple's OS X Mountain Lion. The software allows users to run Windows on Mountain Lion. Users can also take advantage of AirPlay Mirroring for both Mac and Windows applications, which can be streamed to an Apple TV connected to an HDMI display or projector.

Version 5 also features support for Windows 8 Standard, Pro, and Enterprise editions. Other features offer improved support for new Mac technologies such as USB 3.0, Retina displays, and increased memory sizes. The update also offers performance of up to 40-percent in general performance, improved battery life, and improved 3D graphics performance.

VMware Fusion 5 for Mac is available now for $49.99 and a free upgrade for customers who purchased after July 25, 2012.
