August 19, 2012
Whether you’re new to iOS, or just want to pick up some useful tips and tricks, we're here to help. This is iOS Advice. Have you ever accidentally deleted an app? Do you have friends or children that sometimes install or delete your apps? If you’ve ever had trouble with this, or would like to prevent it, there’s a solution that can completely disable either of the two. Check out the video or follow the steps below: First, go into the Settings app on your device and tap on General. Next, swipe down to the bottom and tap on Restrictions. Once you’re inside Restrictions, tap on Enable Restrictions at the top. Now you'll be prompted to create a four digit passcode. From the Restrictions screen, swipe down and switch Installing Apps or Deleting Apps to off. Setting either of these options will disable that specific feature on your device. If you'd like to disable this in the future, go back into Restrictions and tap on Disable Restrictions at the top. You'll be prompted to enter your passcode once more before the restrictions are disabled. Now that you’ve learned how to protect your apps and prevent unwanted installs, if there’s something else you’d like to see on iOS Advice, please let us know.
