Would You Buy The iPhone 5 If It Looked Like This?

This article is more than 10 years old.

Quick question for all my readers -- if the iPhone 5 look like this, would you buy it?

What do you think? By the way, this video isn't real, it's a mock-up done by the folks at 3D-desk.com. Rather than go with the rumored new design based on multiple leaked parts, the folks at 3d-desk.com decided to go with a design that looks pretty much like the current iPhone 4S. The screen is the same size, the width and height are the same, and the headphone jack is at the top.

What's different is that the new handset is substantially thinner, has a smaller dock connector on the bottom of the device and has a cool black anodized/carbon fiber look to the handset.

Here is the design again, this time next to the Galaxy Samsung S III.

The reason I'd like to have your thoughts on this is to find out whether a radical cosmetic redesign of the iPhone in necessary every few years in order to keep people interested. Is it the look that matter or are people are happy with the current look and feel of the iPhone and buy a new one to get their hands on refreshed hardware?

Would you buy an iPhone 5 if it looked much like the iPhone 4S, which itself looked identical to the iPhone 4?
