Most Popular Desktop Keyboard: Apple Wired and Wireless Keyboards

Picking a great keyboard often depends on what you'll be doing with it: gaming, programming, idle web surfing—every keyboard has its pros and cons depending on what you'll use it for. Even so, when we asked you which desktop keyboards you thought stood above the others, you weighed in with hundreds of nominations for your picks. We then took a look at the top five desktop keyboards across the board, and put them all to a vote. Now it's time to highlight the winner.

The race was heated and the votes super-close, but the Apple Wired and Wireless Keyboards took the top spot with 27% of the overall vote - and when the total poll attracted close to 12,000 votes, that's pretty good.

Hot on its heels was the only mechanical that made the list (much to many of your chagrin!), the Das Keyboard, which reeled in close to 25% of the overall vote. In third place with over 17% of the votes cast is the Logitech G Series keyboards, made specifically for gaming but loved by users of all stripes. Behind it in fourth by about a hundred votes and close to 17% of the total is the ergonomically designed Microsoft Natural Series, and bringing up the rear in fifth place was Logitech's productivity and general use K Series Keyboards, with close to 14% of the overall vote.

The Hive Five is based on reader nominations. As with most Hive Five posts, if your favorite was left out, it's not because we hate it—it's because it didn't get the nominations required in the call for contenders post to make the top five. We understand it's a bit of a popularity contest, but if you have a favorite, we want to hear about it. Have a suggestion for the Hive Five? Send us an email at [email protected]!
