Superfluous in-app purchases aside, Sticky Linky is a safe but enjoyable Match Three puzzler.

Entering the already very cluttered Match Three field comes Sticky Linky: a game that's keen to have its own identity and stand out from the crowd. It doesn't entirely succeed at achieving originality but it is plenty of fun at a low price.

Each level offers a collection of colored goo that links together. Each is affected by gravity and basic physics, adding an important element to proceedings. Players can match two or more of the same colored goo to vanquish them but the key to success is lining up five or more of them. Match five or more together and a cute face appears on screen and must be matched with other lumps of goo of the same color. Collect a certain number of heads (the number needed changes depending on the level) and the level is won.

It's as simple as that which is the reason why Sticky Linky is quite compelling. It's an enjoyable 'switch your brain off and rely on instincts' kind of title. There are certain elements of strategy within. For instance, players only have a certain number of moves to achieve their goal. While there are mana potions to be found (or bought with an in-app purchase), they're frequently limited and often challenging to acquire. Other tactical manoeuvres come in the form of appreciating the effects of gravity which can make a big difference. Familiar Match Three tropes such as frozen blocks and blocks that clear large areas also appear to maintain the steady pace.

Ultimately though, Sticky Linky is pretty straight forward. Levels may be slightly different throughout but the format never changes amongst the 54 stages included. Fortunately, that's not really needed as Sticky Linky serves its purpose well. A steady supply of achievements further the cause for keeping players happy during their quick bursts of gaming, although long sessions may highlight the repetitious nature of the game.
