The Palo Alto home of the late Steve Jobs was burglarized recently and the robber made off with more than $60,000 worth of goods, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

Officials arrested Kariem McFarlin, 35, earlier this month. He is now in jail and will face the judge on Aug. 20.

Santa Clara County officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but prosecutor Tom Flattery told the Mercury News that the incident happened on July 17, at which point the Jobs home was under construction. Stolen items included "computers and personal items," but Flattery said McFarlin probably did not know it was the Apple co-founder's home.

According to stats on the Santa Clara Police Department's website, there were 409 burglaries reported there in 2011, down from 481 in 2010.

As detailed in Walter Isaacson's biography of Jobs, his Palo Alto home is comfortable and not ostentatious. It's close to the road and viewable to anyone wandering down the tree-lined street, and not blocked by a security detail.

Jobs after a long battle with cancer, but his family still resides in the house. According to a Feb. article in the Los Angeles Times, fans still flocked to his Palo Alto home even months after the Apple chief's death.
