Leaked Images Show New ‘iPhone 5’ Logic Board

New “leaked” photos posted to French tech site Nowhereelse [Google translation] late Sunday claim to show the logic board of the next generation “iPhone 5.” The photos, originally posted to Chinese forum Weiphone, show the front and rear of a logic board distinctly different from that on the iPhone 4 and 4S.

Lending support to the leaked images, the screw holes on the board line up exactly with those of previously “leaked” outer shells, as demonstrated by Nowhereelse in an animated GIF.

While interesting, yesterday’s leak is less informative than that of the logic board from last year’s iPhone 4S. The “iPhone 5’s” board is still wrapped in shielding in the provided images, not permitting an analysis of the various chips and controllers that will power the next generation iPhone.

Apple is widely expected to unveil the new iPhone, along with a refresh of the iPod line and perhaps even a new smaller iPad, at a special event on Wednesday, September 12.
