Bank of America customers should be happy about this one. The U.S. banking giant just updated its iOS app, adding a new feature that lets users make check deposits right from their iPhone or iPad.

All you have to do is fire up the latest version of the Bank of America app, click on the new deposit tab, then take a photo of the front and back of the check. From there, you'll select which bank account you want to deposit the check into, enter the amount, and confirm the transaction.

Customers can use the app to remotely deposit up to $5,000 in checks per month, without ever having to leave the comfort of home. Business customers and platinum customers have higher monthly limits. Bank of America is not charging customers an extra fee to use the new feature.

Bank of America is also planning to roll out the feature for its Android and Windows Phone apps, according to MyBankTracker.

Bank of America customers can already deposit checks though the company's ATM machines.

Bank of America is not the first to allow mobile check desposits. Military-focused bank USAA was the first to offer the feature about three years ago. Since then, Chase and PayPal have jumped on board to allow users to make check deposits through their mobile apps.

The Bank of America iOS app is available for free for the iPhone and iPad in the App Store.
