Extra! Extra! Wash Post For iPhone Is Now Extra Good

August 5, 2012
Wash Post, The Washington Post's official app for iPhone and iPod touch, has just received another update. The update, which brings the app to version 2.0, is quite noteworthy, if not entirely newsworthy. Most noticeably, the update introduces a sleek, new design to the popular news app. The design's muted color scheme looks a lot like that of the official app of another well-known news organization, The New York Times. One key feature of the app's redesign is the ability to bookmark your favorite sections with the toolbar at the top of the screen. To customize the bookmarks bar, just tap "More" on the toolbar and tap "Edit" in the subsequent screen. You can then start adding your desired sections and removing your unwanted ones. The contents of your favorite sections are cached every time you launch the app. This means that you can read them even when you're offline. Subway commuters, rejoice! Wash Post 2.0 also lets you view live weather conditions with radar maps, seven-day forecasts, weather alerts, and Capitol Weather Gang blog comments. Furthermore, if you're in the DC Metro area, you can use the app to check Metro arrival times, delays, and entrances as well as real-time traffic updates. Again, subway commuters, rejoice! The app also features full links within articles, photo galleries, and Retina-quality graphics. You can download Wash Post 2.0 for iPhone and iPod touch now in the App Store for free. The Washington Post for iPad, which hasn't quite reached 2.0 status yet, is also available for free. Note that the app supports iOS 4.3 or later. Moreover, note that the update may not properly retain the articles you've saved in your My Post section. It is therefore recommended that you email the links to yourself for reference. Or, simply, finish reading the articles before proceeding with the update.
