Rebel Sports was thinking in terms of replacing paper occupational health and safety audit forms with spreadsheets, but settled on another track.
The company has instead adopted a system developed by Sydney-based services and solutions company Multibase, using BlinkMobile's blinkForms module.
BlinkMobile's platform is designed to simplify the creation of rich mobile applications that present a native user interface regardless of device type and without requiring developers to write device-specific code.
The new system will be used on iPads by Rebel's regional managers to conduct six-monthly OH&S audits at the company's 140 stores.

Data collected is automatically uploaded to Rebel's main systems, and any required follow-up activity is initiated.
"The decision to use blinkForms was heavily influenced by the ability to report by factors such as store, region or manager," said Danny Trevisiol, Rebel Group support office WHS coordinator.
"Originally, we looked at developing the audit in Excel spreadsheets but then realised we had an opportunity to use the changing technology to cut down on paperwork and streamline reporting.
"That's when we decided to look at BlinkMobile. We wanted a platform that would allow us to fully integrate and utilise the data a lot more, rather than simply introducing a mobile device to digitise a paper-based system."
