Tone Sphere Review

Tone Sphere is a 3D rhythm game that has a lot to offer. The easy-to-play game features stunning graphics and impressive audio that work well to keep gamers hooked for hours. While tapping the correct note along to a beat isn’t innovative, the game takes the genre to a whole new level with its animated 3D graphics that make it both challenging and visually pleasing.

Tone Sphere features over 40 stages and 2 full episodes. The game comes with more than 20 songs from artists in a wide range of music genres like Alternative, J-pop, Trance, Post Rock and Progressive. There are hidden levels along with songs that are unlocked as gamers play.

Once a song is picked from the library, gamers must try to score as many points as possible by tapping on the notes. There are four types of notes that gamers must tap: red, hold, silver and black. Red notes are the most common and need tapped with the beat of the song, hold notes must be held down until they end, silver notes give player a 10x combo and black notes require players to slide their finger from another note instead of tapping it. What makes the game challenging is that the objects twist, turn, zoom and move in so many different ways that they affect the positioning of the notes.

What gamers are most interested in when it comes to rhythm games is how well the timing works. After not being able to put this game down last night, I can assure everyone that the timing is almost perfect. Of course, you’ll want to try to be as accurate as possible to earn all six stars (the sixth one is hidden), but it’s hard to miss the notes completely.

The only complaints that I had about the game were that it’s hard to tell how well you are doing other than seeing the stars fill up at the bottom of the screen and the pause button is completely functional. After playing around with the sound effects of the notes, I found it easier to tell when I was missing notes and how great I was performing in the game. It was hard at first to really tell what was going on because there is a lot happening on the screen. Also, the pause button seems to take gamers back to the main screen instead of actually pausing the game.

Tone Sphere is an awesome rhythm game that you’d be crazy not to download—especially if you’re a fan of this genre. The integrated Game Center support and progressive difficulty level in the game make it incredibly hard to put down. I highly recommend heading over to the App Store to grab a copy today.
