Seal Shield LLC last Thursday launched the world’s first iPad waterproofing solution for health care. Seal Shields are form-fitting, polyurethane covers that make iPhones and iPads 100 per cent waterproof, washable and disinfectable.
They were developed for the health care market to help reduce the spread of infections. Touch screen devices are increasingly used in hospitals, but pose a cross-contamination infection risk for patients, nurses and doctors.
According to University of North Carolina professor William Rutala, “There is increasing evidence to support the contribution of the environment to disease transmission, and that we pick up pathogens at the same level by touching the environment as by touching the patient.”
“Our health care customers are using more touch screen devices and they are demanding solutions which not only protect the products from scratches, but also from harmful bacteria and viruses,” said Seal Shield CEO Bradley Whitchurch.
“Seal Shields allow practitioners to wash and disinfect their touch screen devices, protecting them and their patients from infection.”
They are form-fitting skins that make iPhones and iPads 100 per cent waterproof, washable and disinfectable. The covers tightly wrap an iPhone or iPad in a protective shield, making the device impervious to contamination.
Unlike bulky cases, the shields are completely invisible, preserving the original Apple design. They are also the best solution for active lifestyles. Ideal for the ski slopes, the beach, or the boat.
The shields are reusable and recyclable and are priced from $19.99 (€16).
