Microsoft: Bing results ‘more relevant’ than Google’s
Bing is "more relevant" than Google's search engine, claims software giant Microsoft. At its recent Worldwide Partner Conference in Toronto past week, Microsoft stated that Bing, its own search engine, provides 'more relevant' results as compared to Google, the most popular search engine in the world.
Reportedly, Microsoft said that its search engine generated results with 61.4% 'overall relevance'.
This is slightly higher than the 59.9% 'overall relevance' of Google search results.
Notably, the company did not offer any explanation regarding how this relevance was calculated and what were the parameters of this index.
At the same event, the chief operating officer of Microsoft, Kevin Turner, stated that Bing’s share in US search engine market grew to 15.41% in May 2012 as against 14.38% in June 2011. This figure rises to 25.63% if 'powered by Bing' searches, such as Yahoo, are taken into account.
