Cubby looks to build user base with storage bonus

By

LogMeIn's Cubby cloud storage any synchronisation service hasn't exactly set the world on fire, even allowing for the fact that it is still in beta. The company is trying a new push against Dropbox.

Most of the popular consumer cloud storage offerings seem to have a referral program that gives users more space at no extra charge in return for recommending the service to their friends.

LogMeIn has now started such a program for Cubby, offering a relatively generous 1GB per successful referral.

One of the main differences between Cubby and Dropbox is that Cubby allows users to link arbitrary folders with Cubby, so you don't need to change the organisation of your folders or mess around with symbolic links in order to share or sync an additional folder.

The icons of 'Cubbified' folders are marked with a C so they are easily identified.

And when it comes to collaboration, cubbies can now be shared with shared with anyone, not just the people you invited to join the beta program.

LogMeIn recently introduced Cubby apps for iOS (5.0 or later) and Android (2.1 or later).

The iOS app has just been updated, and now allows any Cubby file to be opened in any other app.
