Fans of Chris Martin's Coldplay could be boosted by an updated iPad app that shows them how to play some of the band's biggest hits on the piano.

The Coldplay Piano Songbook app contains condensed easy piano solo arrangements for songs such as 'The Scientist', 'Clocks' and 'Viva La Vida'.

Powered by Noteflight notation technology, the latest version of the app offers interactive, real-time playback and customisable audio.

Other features include pages that automatically turn as you play the music, allowing you to concentrate on the score.

Upcoming pages can be previewed in real time before the music comes up to play, while note size can be changed between three different options without losing resolution.

The iPad app shifts intelligently from portrait to landscape, while dynamic looping enables users to highlight sections they want to practice later.

All volume, playback and keyboard settings can be adjusted, and annotations can be placed anywhere on the score and saved directly.

The app includes the following Coldplay hits, although some app features are only available on those with backing tracks:

'Amsterdam' (with backing track)
'Clocks' (with backing track)
'Don't Panic'
'Fix You'
'Green Eyes'
'In My Place'
'Sparks'
'Speed Of Sound'
'The Hardest Part'
'The Scientist' (with backing track)
'Trouble' (with backing track)
'Violet Hill' (with backing track)
'Viva La Vida'
'Warning Sign'
'Yellow'

The Coldplay Piano Songbook app is available to download now from iTunes for £5.49. The app requires iPads to have iOS 4 or higher for "optimal performance".

The updated app joins others from Music Room, including the Adele Piano Songbook, The Beatles Complete, Pocket Guitar Songbook and Notestar for Keyboard players.
