The Mordis Review

From the developers who just launched the successful Stunt Bunnies Circus comes a new game that is adorable on the surface but challenging to complete. The Mordis is an adventure puzzle game that requires players to help the fuzzy little creatures get past obstacles in an effort to save their captured friends from the evil Mr. Sugar. It includes 28 impressive levels and four different Mordis characters to keep players occupied for hours. The realistic physics and impressive graphics make this game a lot of fun to play.

The levels take place in four different worlds: grassland, desert, arctic and volcano. They start off relatively easy and become progressively more difficult as players advance. When a level is started, a timer begins counting in the upper left corner of the screen. The longer it takes players to complete the level, the lower the score drops. The goal of each level is to use the tools located in the bottom corner, such as bridges, springs and boards, to help The Mordis reach the arrow at the end. Players must use the tools strategically because using one tool can use up to 25 points.

There are a limited number of tools that players can use. Once a tool is selected, players must drag it with their finger and position it by rotating the arrows around the tool. Tapping on the screen drops it into the desired location. If gamers decide they don’t want to use a tool, the eraser button located at the bottom of the screen deletes it. After all the tools are in position, the play button brings the little creature to life. Don’t touch this button unless you’re ready because players lose 25 points for each attempt and each time they die. However, there are also bonuses to be earned like finishing a level at the first attempt and completing a level without dying—both earning players an additional 100 points.

The Mordis is intuitive but there is some room for improvement when it comes to the controls. One issue that needs addressed is that there is no way to zoom out of a level to see what lies ahead. Players must scroll the screen sideways to see more of the level. Also, placing the tools isn’t always an easy task. There were times when I couldn’t get the tool to turn or I’d accidentally drop it in the wrong location. It seems like they are either too sensitive or not sensitive enough at times.

Despite the control issues, The Mordis is a challenging puzzle game that’s sure to please everyone from puzzle fanatics to casual gamers. It requires a sharp mind and a little bit of patience to master, making it a solid game worth downloading.
