Aperture 3.3.1
After releasing Aperture 3.3 earlier this month, Apple has just posted Aperture 3.3.1, which “Fixes an issue that in rare cases could cause Aperture to hang or quit unexpectedly when upgrading libraries.” The Aperture 3.3 update was a major shift from previous versions, changing the photo library format so that it would work with Aperture and iPhoto interchangeably, and adding support for the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display. For the people who got hit by this bug (and we heard from some, so it couldn’t have been that rare), Aperture 3.3.1 should be a welcome update. ($79.99 new in the Mac App Store, free update, 554.9 MB)
Tried to install 3.3.1 via software update after previously installing the 3.3 update. The 3.3.1 install took forever, so I forced quit software update, restarted to stop system from continuing to install the update, downloaded Aperature 3.3.1. from the Apple support page. It has been running overnight in the final stage of installation (Moving items into place). During that time, the listed install time remaining has increased from less than a minute to 1 hour and 6 minutes. It looks like the install will take forever. I let it run overnight because the support page says it can take a long time to convert the photo libraries to the new format.
Sounds like something isn't working. The conversion stage happens after you've installed, not during installation.
