We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next, to find ourselves. We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again — to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more.

With Memorial Day behind us, as well as the Queen’s Jubilee, and the summer solstice 2 weeks away, it’s officially time to start planning your beach holidays. For this month’s TNW iPad Magazine, we’ve chosen travel as our theme to bring you all the latest and greatest that technology has to offer the more wanderlust among you.

In this issue, you’ll be treated to the best new travel gadgets and web apps, as well as a full-blown guide to planning your geek holidays and a feature on how-to travel eco-friendly with new ridesharing startups. We also have a slew of celebrity guest authors such as NYC tech journalist Seth Porges, Hipmunk founder Adam Goldstein and Global Travel guru Ryan Croft.

So whether you’re hitting the local beach this summer, flying to Italy, hiking in the Redwood Forest, or staying home on your sofa, our next issue has something for you!

Wait, no Retina version?
This magazine was supposed to be the first Retina issue but unfortunately that requires a new app. We have the new app, and have produced a retina version of the magazine, but it seems stuck in Apple’s App store review process. Expect a new app anytime now and sorry for the delay.
