Keep Track Of Your Favorites With Favs

June 4, 2012
With apps like Pocket and Instapaper, it's easy to keep track of any news stories you'd like to read later, or save for other reasons. But what about the things you "like" on Facebook, or "star" on Twitter? What about videos you "favorite" on YouTube? With Favs, you'll be able to keep track of all your favorites, search for new ones, and follow public favorites. Favs has been available for Mac for a few months, but if you haven't heard of the app, it pulls together your favorites from different services into one unified interface. After providing your login information for each different source, you'll no longer have to check several different apps and websites to review your favorites. At the moment, these services are supported by Favs:
  • Delicious — private bookmarks
  • Dribbble — public likes/heart
  • Facebook — private likes
  • Flattr — public flattred things
  • Flickr — public favorites/starred
  • Github — public watched repositories
  • Google Reader — private starred items
  • Instagram — private likes/heart
  • Instapaper — private likes; a paid Instapaper subscription is required
  • Pinboard — private and public bookmarks
  • Readability — private favorites/star
  • Read It Later — private articles
  • StackOverflow — public favorites/star
  • Twitter — private and public favorites/star
  • Vimeo — public likes/heart
  • YouTube — public favorites
  • Zootool — public and private bookmarks
In addition to using Favs as an aggregator of sorts, you can also use it as a reader. Many favorites are public, such as Twitter, Flickr or Vimeo. This means you can follow the favorites of people you like and see stories picked by them. For those sources, Favs marks any new entries as unread. If this sounds like it can become one of your favorite apps, you can download Favs from the App Store for $2.99.
