A reasonable enough Hidden Object game but one that fails to fascinate.

Dream Inn: Driftwood is best described as relaxing. It's far from the most taxing of games, even by Hidden Object standards, but at its low price it'll understandably tempt fans of the genre in. It's a shame then that it's not the greatest example out there.

Players have the responsibility of restoring a once beautiful inn near the sea to its former glory. In typical gaming fashion, this involves completing numerous Hidden Object based challenges while spending coins to upgrade the Inn's exterior. As the game progresses, new rooms are unlocked in the inn. Players visit these rooms often. Once to find a list of objects, as is customary with Hidden Object games, once to place objects in the scene and once to find a number of the same items.

The scenario where players have to place objects can be a little strange. While some are obvious, such as a candle going into a candle holder, others are a little more obtuse. Figuring out where to place flowers or a seemingly random basket, for instance, can invoke the player's urge to hit the Hint button. It does however mix things up from the usual Hidden Object requirements.

As the player progresses, they earn coins which can be used to upgrade the Inn. This might not be hugely thrilling but it is oddly satisfying to see the place gradually look more and more attractive.

Throughout this entire experience is a friendly inn manager who wants to help out. It's all very quaint but also a little tedious. Replaying the same rooms doesn't help here and the lack of narrative means that Dream Inn: Driftwood falters compared to others in the genre.

At a comparatively low price of $2.99, Dream Inn: Driftwood is pleasant and innocous enough for fans of the genre to benefit from but it is a little too unimaginative to outright recommend.
