THE man who designed the iconic iPod has been knighted. Sir Jonathan Ive, who grew up in Chingford, received the honour for services to design from Princess Anne at Buckingham Palace today.

The 45-year-old, who attended Chingford Foundation School in Nevin Drive, is now vice president of design at Apple.

His knighthood was announced in the Queen’s New Year Honours list in January.

In a statement at the time he said: “To be recognised with this honour is absolutely thrilling and I am both humbled and sincerely grateful.”
