Grabbit is a humorous action game that requires skill and accuracy. The objective is quite simple: grab as many bugs as possible with the frog’s tongue before the timer drops to zero. However, don’t let the basic game play fool you. Grabbit is filled with enemies, obstacles and power-ups that make it both challenging and addicting.

Players must use their fast reflexes to catch the flying insects. Simply press on the frog, swipe in the desired direction and the frog’s tongue releases into the air. It sounds easy enough, but the fast-pace combined with all the hazards creates one challenging game. There are bees that attack, anvils that fall and electric lightning bugs that give the little frog a nice shock. Gamers must quickly tap on the frog to recover him, which in turn costs them those few extra seconds that can make a big difference in their score.

What makes Grabbit so much fun to play are the three different modes. Classic Mode requires players to catch as many flying insects as possible before the time runs out. Highlighted bugs give additional time. Frenzy Mode is basically the same except there are two frogs on the screen and no time extensions. Players have exactly one minute to grab all the bugs in sight. Head to head is perhaps the most fun mode to play. Gamers compete against a friend on a split screen to grab the same bugs. The power-ups in this mode help slow down the opponent.

There’s not much to complain about when it comes to pointing out flaws. The only issue I had involved playing the game on the small iPhone screen. The frog is about the size of my finger, which makes it difficult to tap on him as waves of insects fly across the screen—especially in the head to head mode. Also, the achievements that show up on the screen are so tiny, you can’t really tell what was actually accomplished unless you go into Game Center. I recommend that gamers check Grabbit out on the iPad if they have one.

To sum it up, Grabbit is cute, simple and a lot of fun to play. While the game play may get repetitive after awhile, the challenges, power-ups and achievements keep players coming back for more frog licking action. The best part about purchasing it is that the developer has pledged on their website to donate $10,000 of the profits to the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne Australia if they reach $50,000 in purchases. Jump over to the App Store and snatch Grabbit up today to help out a good cause.
