Bronx ‘iPhone killers’ held without bail

The two Bronx men arrested for killing a young MoMA chef for his iPhone were ordered held without bail this afternoon.

Dominick Davis, 20, and Alejandro Campos, 21, allegedly shot aspiring chef Hwangbum Yang, 26, in the chest on April 19 at 12:30 a.m., two blocks from his home in Riverdale.

The duo — charged with murder, robbery, gun possession and possession of stolen property — are due back in court May 2.

Davis, who fired the shot that killed the aspiring chef, had two prior felony convictions in New York and one felony conviction in New Jersey, according to the District Attorney. Campo, who drove the getaway car, had no criminal record — and his lawyer claimed yesterday afternoon he was a good kid caught at the wrong place at the wrong time.

“[Campo] said he didn’t know anything about a gun,” said public defender Martin Calvin. “He’s just devastated about what happened. He’s maintained his innocence.”

The duo held up Yang, who had been working night shifts at The Modern for three months, at the corner of Cambridge Avenue and West 232 Street, cops said. The police got a lede on Davis and Campo when they attempted to sell the jacked iPhone on Craig’s List for $400, police said.

Campo holds down a full-time job for a cable company, where he earns $1,000 a week, according to his lawyer. “He has lived at the same address with his family for 14 years,” said Calvin. This is “someone at the wrong address at the wrong time who has no record.”

Four family members supporting Campo left the courtroom abruptly after the arraignment.
