Q&A: Linking iPhoto to Multiple Accounts

Q.

I use iPhoto ’11 to upload pictures directly to a shared Flickr page. I just opened my own Flickr account, but the iPhoto Share menu only shows the shared original account. I don’t see any options for adding the new one on that menu. Does the program work with only one account?

A.

The Share menu in iPhoto ’11 lets you upload your pictures directly to Flickr, Facebook, the iCloud Photo Stream and also includes options for e-mailing images or ordering prints right from the program. Even if you did not set up iPhoto to sync images with the shared Flickr account yourself, you can go back into the program’s settings and add another.

To add another Flickr account to the Share menu, open iPhoto and under the iPhoto menu, choose Preferences. In the Preferences box, click the Accounts tab. Under the list that shows the enabled photo-sharing accounts, click the plus (+) icon. In the Add Account box, click the Flickr icon and then click the Add button.

A box that asks if you would like to set up iPhoto to work with Flickr appears on the screen. Click the Set Up button. Sign into Flickr with the name and password of the account you want to add; click the “Sign in as a different user” button if you are already logged into Flickr with the other account.

Follow the steps on screen to authorize iPhoto uploads to Flickr. Once you have added the new account, you should see it listed in iPhoto’s Share menu options. Apple has more information here.
