It's hard to stick out in the tablet market these days - especially as most people think all tablets are called iPads. But Toshiba's new strategy? Bigger is better.

The company is introducing a trio of tablets today: the Excite 7.7 with a 7.7-inch display, the 10.1-inch Excite 10.1, and the Excite 13 with a whopping 13.3-inch display.

It's more comparable in size to a cutting board than, say, an iPad. And that might just be part of Toshiba's messaging: "We don't recommend it as a cutting board, but we do recommend it as a kitchen tablet," Toshiba's Product Marketing Manager Young Bae told ABC News.

"Our surveys tell us that two out of three tablets are used in the home," Bae added. And that's backed up by harder industry data:  Nielsen reported last week that almost half of tablet users use their device in front of the TV on a regular basis.

The 13-inch tablet comes with a kickstand in the box so you can prop it up while cooking or browsing the web. However, Toshiba also hopes that it will be the ideal for two-person use. Bae explained that kids could play a game together with it or watch a movie in the back of the car.

And the tablet boasts the specs for both of those activities. It has quad-core Tegra 3 processor for Nvidia, 1GB of RAM, and a 1600 x 900 resolution. That said the screen size causes it to be a bit heavier than most tablets; it weighs 2.2 pounds, which is closer in weight to a small laptop.

That extra size also means a higher price point: The Excite 13 tablet will be available on June 10th for $649.99 for the 32GB version. The 64GB model will cost $749.99.
