Currently a pretty simple yet effective personal social networking app but one with a heap of potential.

A cursory glance at the internet will demonstrate to anyone that there are many, many options when it comes to signing up to a social network with Facebook and Twitter dominating the arena. These networks, however, are typically used to find new friends and increasingly, they make for pretty impersonal experiences. Everyme focuses on creating a social networking experience for users and their existing friends.

It's all done via the iPhone adress book. After all, that's where all the important people should be for the user. Everyme uses this as a starting point to encourage friends to gather together through the app and its socializing functionality.

Using the concept of friend circles (kind of like Google+), the user can add friends and family to specific circles in order to interact with them. These private circles offer much of the functionality that something like Facebook would offer, but the privacy of only interacting with the friends that the user wants to get in touch with.

It's possible to add text, images and locations from within the app. The more interesting part comes from the ability to see an activity feed of friends' status updates (by linking up Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn) such as relationship changes or birthdays. This all means that users can segregate their friends and family depending on a situation. It's just as easy to arrange a school reunion through this app, as it is to create a circle for the grandparents to see their new born grandchild. Throughout, new updates are emailed or sent via push notifications making it accessible for all concerned, regardless of technological prowess. Signing up to an Everyme account isn't even required if a member of the family doesn't want to.

It all makes for a clever idea that aids more personal social networking, It's easy to use and set up which should encourage people to give it a shot. Crucially, like any social networking product, much of its success will come down to how much it's embraced by others. Get friends on board and it'll be a useful tool for liaising privately and easily. Without them, it's going to be a little lonely.
