Apple-crazed crooks have been swiping high-tech equipment from the checked luggage of unsuspecting passengers flying from JFK to Moscow, The Post has learned.
Delta flight 30 — which departs JFK at 4:05 p.m. daily and lands at Sheremetyevo Airport nearly 10 hours later — has emerged as a veritable Bermuda Triangle for gadgets that have been mysteriously disappearing from passengers’ checked luggage, sources said.
Last month, during one six-day period, thieves succeeded in stealing more than a dozen Apple products from passengers on four Delta flights, sources said. Passengers complained of stolen iPads, iPhones and iMacs on March 12, 14, 15 and 17, sources said.
The haul from those flights totaled more than $6,300.
The thefts were reported to the Port Authority Delta on March 30 after the airline grew tired of reimbursing its customers.
The March 17 Delta 30 flight was particularly brutal.
Passengers flying that day reported to authorities that seven Apple items were stolen, including four iPads worth $599 each; one iPad worth $699; and two iPhones, worth $199.
