How to: Change The Look Of Safari iOS When In Private Browsing

If you choose to have Safari on iOS set to “Private Browsing” you may notice that the top menu bar of the app will change color and become inverted as shown below:

This is a visual implementation to make sure the user is aware they are working within private browsing mode.

If you do not wish to work in the mode and would like to return Safari to the normal colour hue then proceed to Settings > Safari > Privacy. Simply switch Private Browsing to the off position and when you open Safari again your window will appear like this:

You will be asked during this process if you want the currently open tabs to close or reload. Please remember if returning to standard mode from private mode you may not wish for certain websites to be retained in memory. If this is the case you should choose close.

Despite the graphics being shown from the iPad view, the same effect for private browsing can be seen on both iPhone and iPod touch.
