The Fix-it-Up series has been steadily improving since Fix-It-Up: Kate’s Adventure, the first title, was released. Fix-It-Up: World Tour went one step further, correcting some control based flaws and now Fix-It-Up 80s: Meet Kate's Parents throws a fun story and entertaining 1980s references into the mix.

45 levels are available through the story mode. Gameplay is much like the previous titles. The player must purchase old and broken cars, improve them, give them a fresh coat of paint then sell them on for profit. It's a simple enough idea but one that requires a set layout of workshops. The early stages of the game introduces the player to each but basically, they come down to a paint shop, car wash and modding or tuning station. Cars can then be placed for sale while also accumulating rent.

Unlike many other Time Management games, Fix-It-Up 80s: Meet Kate's Parents keeps things consistently interesting as new objectives arise mid way through stages as well as at the start. Nothing is hugely challenging but at least it maintains the player's interest for a decent amount of time. Goals are reasonably varied too, ranging from completing a set number of modifications to acquiring a certain amount of money. The story keeps things ticking along nicely and the colorful imagery is certainly a welcome change from the original title in the series.

It won't take a huge amount of time for the experienced Time Management gamer to complete Fix-It-Up 80s: Meet Kate's Parents but they will have a decent time playing it. While it's not quite up there amongst my favorite games within the genre, it's certainly the best Fix-It-Up game thus far. Action is smooth and controls are effective throughout, so while it's more of the same, the same is fun.
