Customer Now Suing Apple For $1,000,000 After Apple Store Door Breaks Her Nose

March 26, 2012
Though Apple's all-glass fronted retails stores include warning stickers, as part of a safety measure introduced last year, one customer - an 83 year old American grandmother called Evelyn Paswall - recently broke her nose, after a transparent Apple Store glass door caught her out. Discontent with the practicalities of all-glass store fronts, Paswell and her family have decided to sue Apple for $1,000,000. The incident occurred at the Apple Store Manhasset (pictured above). Her lawyer explains:
There were no markings on the glass or they were inadequate. My client is an octogenarian. She sees well, but she did not see any glass.
Apple wants to be cool and modern and have the type of architecture that would appeal to the tech crowd, but on the other hand, they have to appreciate the danger that this high-tech modern architecture poses to some people.
Already, Apple has a number of stickers placed along its all-glass fronted retail stores, as you can see in the below image. But, is this enough? Apple's glass-fronted stores do look impressive and are in keeping with the company's elegant design ethos, though on reflection see-through swinging doors may not be such a great idea. The $1,000,000 Paswell is seeking looks to reimburse $75,000 worth of medical expenses, plus damages for negligence. We'll let you know what happens with this case - feel free to leave your thoughts below. [via MacRumors]
