Light the Flower sees the player manipulate beams of light to wake up a sleeping flower. Starting off relatively easy, it soon ups the difficulty and provides some head-scratching puzzles.

Light the Flower lulls the player in to a false sense of security. The first few levels are a tutorial of sorts, and are pretty easy. A beam of light shines into a room, and the player must move and rotate mirrors so that the beam hits a sleeping flower. Of course, the number of mirrors is extremely limited so the player has to think carefully.

Then the difficulty ramps up. To progress through the 60 levels the player needs to collect stars, of which there are 3 in every level. To collect a star the player needs to shine a beam of light on it, as well as the flower. The further into the game the player gets, the more awkwardly the stars are placed.

New features are also introduced later on, again upping the difficulty. Different colored flowers that can only be woken by certain colors of light; prisms that split the light and sends it in several directions; switches that can only be activated by light, and torches all cause the player no end of trouble. This is one game that won’t be perfected easily.

In terms of controls, Light the Flower is incredibly simple. Tapping and dragging on a mirror will move it, while touching the sides of a mirror will rotate it so that the beams of light can be angled.

Occasionally, when 2 mirrors are close together, the game can misinterpret which one the player wants to select, and it takes a moment or two to get the right one.

Visually the game looks very nice. Everything is bright and bold, and it will appeal to pretty much everyone.

Light the Flower is an extremely likeable game. It has such a simple premise yet, like all good puzzle games, it’s hard to master.
