Has your iPad 2 lost some of its shine since Apple's announcement of the new iPad last week (Check out our iPad review)? Looking longingly at the Retina display? Maybe you're considering trading in so you can have Apple's latest and greatest tablet. There are plenty of offers out there for people just like you, with some places offering fairly hefty rewards in exchange for your old, unwanted slate. We've had a look around and found what we think are your best options, but if you see a better deal anywhere else, let us know in the comments!

    Apple's Reuse and Recycling program

Apple has its own recycling program that's offering rewards in the way of gift cards for trading in your iPad 2. The base 16GB Wi-Fi-only model will net you a $205 card to spend on your upgrade to the new iPad (assuming that your current unit is in good condition) while the top-of-the-line 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G* model earns you $320.

    Amazon

Amazon's being a little more generous, offering up to $300 in gift cards for the lower-end 16GB Wi-Fi-only model and a hefty $460 for the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G model. To get these prices your iPad has to be "like new," with no scratches or perzonalization, though even with a few minor issues you can expect a decent value.

    Best Buy

A good condition base model iPad will net you $265 from Best Buy's trade-in system, while the premium model is worth up to $435. That might not be as much as Amazon is offering, but with Best Buy you're able to take it into a store and pick up the gift card on the spot. This could be perfect if you need the credit and want to grab the tablet on launch day.

    Gamestop

Gamestop's offers aren't the best, but they're better than Apple's own. The 16GB Wi-Fi model has a value of $250, while the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G is worth $400. You can choose to take cash or store credit, though if you opt for the cash you'll take a 20 percent cut in the value.

Update: Gamestop has gotten in touch to say that, contrary to the T&Cs on its website, the values given are for cash trade-ins and are valid until March 31st. Customers choosing to take store credit will receive a 20 percent bonus if they trade before April 7th.

    Gazelle

Gazelle gives you a few options of how to receive payment: Amazon gift card, check, or via PayPal. The latter two mean that you can convert your old iPad into cash, so while $260 for the 16GB Wi-Fi model and $370 for the 64GB WiFi + 3G might not be the best deals here, you're able to take that money anywhere. If you choose the Amazon gift card route, Gazelle will offer you an extra five percent, but you might as well just use Amazon itself.

So of everywhere we found, Amazon offers the best deal. Even if your iPad 2's not in perfect condition, the deals out there are still fairly generous — so you could net more than you expect.

*For the sake of comparison, the 64GB Wi-Fi + 3G model is the AT&T variant. Trade-in values vary for Verizon units.
