Dell Buys AppAssure

Dell this morning said it has acquired AppAssure, "a global leader in complete application protection for virtual, physical and cloud infrastructures." Dell describes AppAssure as "the nation's fastest-growing backup software technology company."

Dell notes that AppAssure reported 194% revenue growth in 2011, and 19 consecutive quarters of growth.

Terms were not disclosed. Based in Reston, Virginia, AppAsure has about 230 employees. Dell notes that Bain Capital Ventures is the lead institutional investor in the company.

Here's an interesting little irony: one of AppAssure's board members is Bill Veghte, who is VP of software and solutions at...Hewlett-Packard.
