Wow, it’s been a long time since the Macalope’s read a piece by John C. Dvorak.
Turns out it’s just as miserable an experience as it’s always been.
Will Apple Kill the Macintosh (No link for the obvious reasons.)
We have stories about how some famous TV production company is ditching Final Cut Pro for Avid because it cannot use FCP-X. We have stories about how Apple is secretly still selling FCP-7 under the table. Now, we are beginning to see stories about how Apple may eventually bite the bullet and kill the entire Mac side of its business.
OH MY GOD KILL THE ENTIRE MAC SIDE OF ITS BUSINESS AAAAGH EVERYONE RUN AROUND AND SMASH THINGS IT’S THE END OF THE WORLD
Of course, you don’t even have to click the link to know that that’s not what the article says. You don’t even have to hover over it to see that the URL says “will-Apples-success-kill-the-mac-as-we-know-it” to know that. No, you already know that’s not what the article says because you’re reading a column by John C. Dvorak about Apple.
Considering the iPhone and iPad profits, Apple probably could kill the Mac, and the iPod as well, and become a two-product company. To most readers, this seems like a risky bet. It sounds like idiocy if you ask me. But is it?
John.
John.
JOHN.
We both know Apple is not going to “kill the entire side of its Mac business.” Must we continue with this ridiculous charade where you pretend it might happen in order to try to rile up Apple fans?
Of course, this is all speculation and based on nothing but clues and comments made elsewhere. I expect a modicum of fan-boy hate mail quibbling about how I am wrong about Apple all the time.
In our defense, we only send it because you are wrong about Apple all the time. Deliberately so!
But let me say that this is not something I’m eager to see. I don’t like the idea of Apple following such a path. I hope I’m wrong!
Sure you do. How does the Macalope know? Remember that part in The Dark Knight where the Joker says to Batman “You complete me!”
You wouldn’t be who you are without Mac users.
