Not unexpected was the news this morning that the release of version 10.7.3 of OS X 10.7, Lion was available via Software Update. There is, however, a slight boost for local users with the addition of Thai language support. Other compatibility issues with Microsoft files are addressed, as well as wifi-related problems. RAW support for more digital cameras is included.

For my computer, this download is reported as 1.02GB (I will download the Combo version). Using the Apple Downloads pages, the following are shown:

  • OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client) - 997.01MB
  • OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) - 1.2GB
  • OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Server) - 1GB
  • OS X LIon Update 10.7.3 (Server Combo) - 1.34GB

Apple tells us that the 10.7.3 update is recommended for all OS X Lion users and includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac including fixes that:

  • Add Catalan, Croatian, Greek, Hebrew, Romanian, Slovak, Thai, and Ukrainian language support
  • Address issues when using smart cards to log into OS X
  • Resolve issues authenticating with directory services
  • Address compatibility issues with Windows file sharing
  • Address an issue printing Microsoft Word documents that use markup
  • Address a graphics performance issue after sleep on some earlier iMacs that use ATI graphics
  • Resolve a Wi-Fi connection issue when waking from sleep
  • Address an issue that may prevent Safari from opening before joining a wireless network
  • Fix a potential issue authenticating to an SMB DFS share
  • Include RAW image compatibility for additional digital cameras

Detailed information on the update is available at : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5048 (try it a couple of times if it does not open initially -- weird). While information on the security content of this update is at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222.
