Motorola Solutions Slides; Q1 EPS Outlook Falls Short Of Estimates

This article is more than 10 years old.

Motorola Solutions shares are trading lower Wednesday morning following the company's Q4 financial report.

For the quarter, the provider of government and enterprise communications products posted revenue of $2.3 billion, up 5% from a year ago and in line with the Street. Non-GAAP profits from continuing operations of 87 cents a share was ahead of the Street at 82 cents.

The company noted that it repurchased $366 million of its common stock in the quarter.

For Q1, the company sees revenues up 4% from the year-ago quarter, with non-GAAP profits of 50-55 cents a share - and there's the issue, I think; the Street had been anticipating 56 cents a share.

For all of 2012, Motorola Solutions sees revenues up 5% from last year; the Street has been projecting 4% growth.

MSI is down $1.88, or 3.9%, to $45.98.

Just to be clear: this is the other Motorola, not Motorola Mobility, which is the business Google is buying.
