One of the great advantages to the iPad's extra screen space is that it makes the device ideal to play alongside other people. BlinkMaster is a game that exploits that quite well. It might not be as competitive as something like a board game but its strength still lies with playing as a group rather than alone.

BlinkMaster is pretty instinctive. Each round of the game offers nine visual clues leading to a famous personality, place, movie or novel. For a split second, it's possible to see these clues before they're hidden behind boxes of different points values. These values correspond to how subtle the clues are or if it's blatantly obvious what the answer is. With quick reflexes I found it was often quite simple to guess the correct answer just from the split second glance. That's not to say it didn't trip me up a few times along the way.

It's a neat concept as it is but it's the little things that make the difference. Unlike many other games, there are no multiple choice answers. Instead, the player starts typing the answer in and the game auto completes the response. This not only saves the player time but also makes it more challenging as it's not just a matter of guessing from some predefined answers.

Each visual clue, once unveiled, includes an explanation of why it's there. It's a nice touch that's almost educational in some cases.

Over 300 questions are included so there should be enough to keep most players entertained for a while. I'm hopeful for regular updates to include new question packs, though. The Team Play mode adds to the experience but the single player mode works just as well for less competitive team players. It's the kind of game that would work well as part of a family activity.

BlinkMaster is a solid piece of entertainment that's bound to keep the vast majority of trivia fans entertained.
