A purpose-made frame bag might be the best way to carry an iPad as you ride

I have given up trying to mount an iPad up on my touring bike's handlebars. While having heads-up maps displayed would be handy, the things just too darn big, and too hard to secure safely. A frame-bag, on the other hand, is almost as convenient and has the advantage of better security and not acting like a huge, wind-catching sail.

And these Fahrer Agent bike bags from Berlin are handsome into the bargain. The slim slipcases use a clamp to grab the frame, along with an aluminum liner to keep the iPad within protected. The zipper opens diagonally across the face of the bags to get you get to the iPad while on the bike, and a detachable shoulder-strap lets you carry it off the bike.

It works off the bike, too

What's more, the bags are fashioned from recycled truck tarpaulin, to survive even the blusteriest of Berlin weather.

The only thing that you might not like is the price: €190, or $240. Ouch. I guess I'll be paying another visit to the hardware store this afternoon. I feel a weekend project coming on.
