Kingston Shows Off Tiny USB Drives

Kingston Digital's new USB flash drives are sleek, stylish, and really small.

LAS VEGAS – It's CES, and that means one thing: New tiny flash drives! Kingston Digital has announced two new USB flash drives, the DataTraveler SE9 and the DataTraveler Micro, which offer smaller, lighter, thinner storage solutions designed for users who need to swap files between ultrabooks, tablets, and smartphones.

The DataTraveler SE9 is a slick new all-metal twist on the capless one-piece design of the previously released DataTraveler 109. Like the DT109, the DataTraveler SE9 features a large key chain loop built into the body of the flash drive, as well as a thin metal body that won't crowd out other USB devices when plugged into a laptop. The metal construction makes for a drive that is sturdy without the bulky plastic or rubber found on other rugged flash drives. Measuring less than 0.5-inch wide and just over 1.5-inches long, the DataTraveler SE9 slips easily into a pocket, purse, or backpack, and comes in either 8GB or 16GB capacities.

The DataTraveler Micro is even smaller, putting the same 8GB or 16GB capacity into a package small enough to get lost with your pocket change. The DataTraveler Micro features an ultra-small form factor that is designed to be plugged into a device without increasing the overall footprint of the device, making it perfect for use with tablets, ultrabooks, and any other device that can be easily picked up, carried or packed into a bag. Because the DataTraveler Micro is little more than a USB plug, the drive also comes with a brightly colored cap to make it easy to find and to keep out dust and moisture.

Kingston Digital covers both the DataTraveler SE9 and the DataTraveler Micro with a five-year warranty, and offers 24/7 customer support. Details on pricing and availability are not yet available.
