These are instructions on how to perform an untethered jailbreak of your iPad 1 on iOS 5.0.1 using RedSn0w for Windows. The Mac version of this tutorial is here.

If you want to jailbreak a lower firmware version you can find the appropriate tutorial here.

Step One
Create a folder on your desktop called Pwnage

Download the latest RedSn0w from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the 5.0.1 firmware from here and place it in the Pwnage folder. (Note: you do not need to download the 5.0.1 firmware if you are already on iOS 5.0.1)

Extract the RedSn0w zip file by double clicking it.

Just an FYI to others. Had issues using resnow 9.10b3. Kept trying to get past the apple start up logo and couldn't. Worked perfect with 9.10b1 though. Cheers

There is a sort of bug in this release of redsn0w...as lot of you may know apple introduce multitask gesture for ipad1...so the option to set the gestoure on redsn0w is totally useless. The big problem is that If you don't check that option too you will have to Restore to have the Multitouch gestoure!

SirPad, I observed the same thing. The multitasking gesture has totally disappeared after jailbreaking by iPad-1. It's a pain now to use the iPad after gotten used to the 5-finger swipe & pinch :(
