Use Your iOS Device as the Controller for Real Racing on the Mac

If you know anything about iOS games, chances are that you’ve heard of Firemint’s Real Racing. The two-game racing series is one of the most popular franchises on Apple’s mobile platform.

The developers have really pushed the technological envelop with the title, making it one of the first apps to work cohesively with iOS 5’s AirPlay mirroring feature. And now they’re taking the game to a whole new level.

Firemint, who was recently purchased by Electronic Arts, has just ported Real Racing to the Mac OS X. Now users can experience the same amazing graphics and intense gameplay that they loved on iOS on their Mac.

The cool part is that you can actually use your iOS device as a controller for the game. That means that you can use your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to control the on-screen action. It’s motion-based, so imagine using your device like a Wii controller.

Of course, this is nothing new. You’ve been able to do this for months with Real Racing 2 and an iPad 2, iPhone 4S, or Apple TV. But this method seems a lot less complicated. If you want to try it out for yourself, you can download Real Racing 2 for $12.99 from the Mac App Store.
