LG Provides More Details on Ice Cream Sandwich Rollout

LG on Monday provided some additional details about the roll-out of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its various smartphones.

LG on Monday provided some additional details about the roll-out of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for its various smartphones.

The company confirmed that Ice Cream Sandwich will initially be available for the Optimus 2X, the , the and the Optimus LTE.

"We are also continuing to evaluate the ICS OS to determine whether it is compatible with the functionality, features and performance of other LG smartphones to make the ICS OS available on as many LG smartphones as possible," the company said on its Facebook page.

LG promised to post an upgrade schedule, as well as details about other phones that will get ICS, on its Facebook page and local LG Web sites next month.

The announcement comes several weeks after that its Optimus 2x, known as the G2x here in the states, will in fact receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update. There was some confusion about the company's ICS plans after a representative on LG's Indian Facebook page said the Optimus 2x would not receive Ice Cream Sandwich.

The first device to receive Ice Cream Sandwich will be the . It was released overseas earlier this month, and will be available on Verizon Wireless in the U.S., but the carrier has not yet announced a release date. Recent rumors, however, suggest it will hit U.S. stores .
