Rumours have been circulating for ages now that Apple is preparing to unleash three new iPhone models later this year .
All of them will be variations on last year's successful iPhone X .
Now that speculation has been fuelled by comments from a top industry analyst who specialises in monitoring the tech giant.
He reckons Apple will unleash SIX new gadgets before 2018 has finished.
As well as trio of new iPhones, Ming Chi Kuo expects Apple to dish out a new Apple Watch, a new MacBook Air and a new iPad Pro model with the same all-screen design as the iPhone X with no home button.
"In terms of other new products to watch for this year, Kuo points to the rumored cheaper MacBook Air, iPad Pro models with Face ID and Apple Watch models with larger displays — products Kuo has previously predicted which have been backed up by reporting," explained 9to5Mac which obtained the guidance note to investors that Kuo wrote.
"Kuo adds that 2019 iPhones will have ‘marked innovation based on past experience’ but specifics shouldn’t be expected until September or October of this year," the site reports.
One of the new iPhones set to be released this year could have a larger 6.1-inch display but be significantly cheaper than the current iPhone X.
That's because Apple will opt for a cheaper LCD screen (currently being used for the iPhone 8) rather than the expensive OLED panel sported by the X.
According to Kuo, this iPhone X Plus (or iPhone 9 Plus) may go on sale for around $600 - $700. Which would likely be translated directly to £600 or £700 here in the UK.
Many Apple fans expected to see an upgraded MacBook Air at WWDC in the summer, but it looks like Apple is holding this back until the autumn as well.
We would expect the new iPhones and the new Apple Watch to launch in the first two weeks of September 2018, similar to previous Apple launches. Things get a bit murkier when it comes to the iPad and MacBook but Kuo seems pretty convinced they're coming before the end of the year.
