How To Set Your Mac Safari Homepage

You can set your Safari home page to any page on any site. However, this won't actually affect much unless you also set other options in your Safari Preferences. Even then, when you quit Safari and relaunch it, you'll probably just see the same pages you had open previously, unless you close all of Safari's windows before quitting.

hi Greg, on my safari prefs general tab, I also have a 'Safari opens with' line with options of 'a new window', 'a new private window' and 'all windows from last session'. This is not visible in the video? I assume you'd be on the latest macOS.
another feature I'd like to have would be to setup multiple homepages as is available on FF and I have 'feedback' to apple about it several times but no luck!!

RH: It depends what you have set for System Preferences, General, "Close windows when quitting app." Toggle that checkbox and the "Safari opens with" option goes away. So you probably have that set.
What would the difference be between having multiple homepages and just having bookmarks? Or, top sites? Or, pinned tabs?

GR: oh, I hadn't observed that relation between Sys Prefs>General and the 'Safari opens with'. Thanks. Regarding multiple homepages, they would open whenever I started Safari/FF so don't have to do it manually, since there are some pages I view almost daily for e.g. APOD, SCIAM, NGphotos!

RH: If your goal is to open several tabs, then you can use New Windows Open With and "Choose Tabs Folder." Then choose a bookmarks folder with multiple bookmarks.

I followed your instructions: homepage, homepage, and then typed google.com. When I hit return it becomes http://www.apple.com/startpage/. When I open page to google.com and push SET TO CURRENT PAGE it remains on the apple site.
    Help???

Bob: Not sure why it isn't working for you. Maybe try a Safari restart?
