Snapchat Makes Bitmoji’s Friendmoji Available As An iOS iMessage App

Apple announced its new Memoji feature as part of iOS 12 earlier this week and continuing the theme, the folks over at Snapchat are expanding their use of Bitmoji characters in iOS.

In the next few days, users can expect to see an update for the iPhone and iPad that will allow them to send personalized Friendmojis or Bitmoji stickers that include both them and a friend all from within Apples Messages app.

As of right now, Bitmoji can be used via a keyboard extension for those who want to send them from within Messages, but the new update will usher in a change that will make combo Friendmojis available outside the actual Snaptchat app for the very first time. If users have both their Snapchat and Bitmoji accounts linked, then Friendmojis can also be sent from within Messages.

For those wondering how this will work, a new “Friend” icon will appear in the corner of the Bitmoji keyboard extension if it is enabled. From here, users will see their Snapchat friends, with a tap of those friends kicking off the customizable generation of Friendmojis.

If all this sounds like gibberish, then you’re likely not a Snapchat user, but those who are will no doubt be making great use of this feature very soon indeed.

All this comes alongside the Memoji announcement that will potentially see everyone using their own, customized avatar for things like sending messages and even making FaceTime calls when iOS 12 arrives later this year.

For now, though, anyone wanting to send something similar can either fall back to the current Animojis or if they’re a Snapchat user, give the new Friendmoji integration a whirl.
