Yet another bug making the OS look much better

If you’ve been following the news closely, you probably know that Windows 10 April 2018 Update is quite a buggy OS release that’s causing the most unexpected problems on upgraded devices.

But these bugs aren’t always things that users want to get rid of, as it was the case of the one bringing full transparency to the Windows 10 taskbar.

And yet, it looks like the transparency bug expands beyond the desktop, with reddit user Maxdec94 now experiencing a similar issue that removes colors from the Action Center and instead shows buttons without a background.

As you can see in the GIF at the end of the article, the Action Center appears to look a bit more modern than it is by default in Windows 10 April 2018 Update, though I have doubts that this would work in terms of usability. On the other hand, many are already seeking ways to reproduce this behavior on their systems, making this just another bug that should become a feature in Windows 10.

Next update coming June 12

By the looks of things, it all seems to be a problem caused by graphics drivers, and the said reddit user says it comes and goes, with no clear pattern to trigger the issue.

Microsoft will most likely fix it with a future update to offer consistent behavior in the Action Center for all users, though the company is yet to acknowledge the bug and provide an ETA for a patch.

The next update cycle will take place on June 12 when Microsoft ships Patch Tuesday fixes for its software, and Windows 10 April 2018 Update will get its own cumulative update with new improvements. It remains to be seen, however, if issues like these are resolved, as Microsoft has a lot of work to do in order to provide a flawless experience in the latest OS version.
